¶ All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, [yea], all ye beasts in the forest.

¶ For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.

As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,

Therefore will I give their wives unto others, [and] their fields to them that shall inherit [them]: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

But thine eyes and thine heart [are] not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do [it].

For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.

¶ So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.

¶ For the sins of her prophets, [and] the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

[There is] a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.
