‹And blessed is› [he], ‹whosoever shall not be offended in me.›

And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, ‹A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.›

¶ Then saith Jesus unto them, ‹All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.›

¶ ‹If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before› [it hated] ‹you.›

[It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, [even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
