Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one.
How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean [that is] born of a woman?
He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked [man getteth] himself a blot.
¶ Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him.
Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These [are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
‹And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell› [it] ‹unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.›
Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.
‹Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.›
‹All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.›
‹Ye do the deeds of your father.› Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, [even] God.
These [words] spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
And [some] of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
¶ I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
