And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou [it] lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little [finger] shall be thicker than my father's loins.
Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory [of this], and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to [thy] hurt, that thou shouldest fall, [even] thou, and Judah with thee?
¶ The beginning of strife [is as] when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
¶ [Every] purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
¶ Go not forth hastily to strive, lest [thou know not] what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
‹For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have› [sufficient] ‹to finish› [it]?
¶ And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
