Samuel Anoints David as King The LORD said to Samuel,“How long do you intend to mourn for Saul? I have rejected him as king over Israel. Fill your horn with olive oil and go! I am sending you to Jesse in Bethlehem, for I have selected a king for myself from among his sons.”

Saul removed David from his presence and made him a commanding officer. David led the army out to battle and back.

Wherever I moved among all the Israelites, I did not say to any of their leaders whom I appointed to care for my people Israel,“Why have you not built me a house made from cedar?”’

Go, tell Jeroboam,‘This is what the LORD God of Israel has said:“I raised you up from among the people and made you ruler over my people Israel.
