David Receives Gifts from Ziba When David had gone a short way beyond the summit, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth was there to meet him. He had a couple of donkeys that were saddled, and on them were two hundred loaves of bread, a hundred raisin cakes, a hundred baskets of summer fruit, and a container of wine.

All the people followed him up, playing flutes and celebrating so loudly they made the ground shake.

They held a feast before the LORD that day and celebrated. Then they designated Solomon, David’s son, as king a second time; before the LORD they anointed him as ruler and Zadok as priest.

When the righteous become numerous, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.

As he approached the road leading down from the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen:
