Back to passage

But the Israelites said to the LORD,“We have sinned. You do to us as you see fit, but deliver us today!”

“Have you noticed how Ahab shows remorse before me? Because he shows remorse before me, I will not bring disaster on his dynasty during his lifetime, but during the reign of his son.”

But the LORD had mercy on them and felt pity for them. He extended his favor to them because of the promise he had made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He has been unwilling to destroy them or remove them from his presence to this very day.

In his pain Manasseh asked the LORD his God for mercy and truly humbled himself before the God of his ancestors.

“Go, ask the LORD on behalf of me and those who remain in Israel and Judah about the words of this scroll that has been discovered. So he poured out his fierce anger on them, along with the devastation of war. Its flames encircled them, but they did not realize it; it burned against them, but they did not take it to heart.

So,” the Sovereign LORD says,“my raging fury will be poured out on this land. It will be poured out on human beings and animals, on trees and crops. And it will burn like a fire which cannot be extinguished.”

I will get up and go to my father and say to him,“Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth. Then ugly and painful sores appeared on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.
