So my heart constantly sighs for Moab, like the strumming of a harp, my inner being sighs for Kir Hareseth.

So I say:“Don’t look at me! I am weeping bitterly. Don’t try to console me concerning the destruction of my defenseless people.”

The LORD of Heaven’s Armies told me to say to this people,“Take note of what I say. Call for the women who mourn for the dead! Summon those who are the most skilled at it!”

Ask yourselves this and consider it carefully: Have you ever seen a man give birth to a baby? Why then do I see all these strong men grabbing their stomachs in pain like a woman giving birth? And why do their faces turn so deathly pale?

“‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Clap your hands, stamp your feet, and say,“Ah!” because of all the evil, abominable practices of the house of Israel, for they will fall by the sword, famine, and pestilence.

“Therefore, son of man, pack up your belongings as if for exile. During the day, while they are watching, pretend to go into exile. Go from where you live to another place. Perhaps they will understand, although they are a rebellious house.

The sticks you write on will be in your hand in front of them.
