After they had beaten them severely, they threw them into prison and commanded the jailer to guard them securely.

Then the commanding officer came up and arrested him and ordered him to be tied up with two chains; he then asked who he was and what he had done.

It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

The latter do so from love because they know that I am placed here for the defense of the gospel.

At the same time pray for us too, that God may open a door for the message so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.

Thanksgiving for Response to the Gospel We thank God always for all of you as we mention you constantly in our prayers,

So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but by God’s power accept your share of suffering for the gospel.

Jesus and Moses Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,

At times you were publicly exposed to abuse and afflictions, and at other times you came to share with others who were treated in that way.

Leading and Living in God’s Flock So as your fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings and as one who shares in the glory that will be revealed, I urge the elders among you:

We know that we have crossed over from death to life because we love our fellow Christians. The one who does not love remains in death.
