And the residue^H3499 of the people^H5971 that were left^H7604 in the city,^H5892 and those that fell away,^H5307 that fell to the king^H4428 of Babylon,^H894 and the residue^H3499 of the multitude,^H1995 did Nebuzaradan^H5018 the captain^H7227 of the guard^H2876 carry away^H1540 captive.^H5307

Now the first^H7223 inhabitants^H3427 that dwelt in their possessions^H272 in their cities^H5892 were Israel,^H3478 the priests,^H3548 the Levites,^H3881 and the Nethinim.^H5411

And them that had escaped^H7611 from the sword^H2719 carried he away^H1540 to Babylon;^H894 and they were servants^H5650 to him and his sons^H1121 until the reign^H4427 of the kingdom^H4438 of Persia:^H6539

Be it known^H1934 unto the king,^H4430 that we went^H236 into the province^H4083 of Judah,^H3061 to the house^H1005 of the great^H7229 God,^H426 which is builded^H1124 with great^H1560 stones,^H69 and timber^H636 is laid^H7761 in the walls;^H3797 and this^H1791 work^H5673 goeth^H5648 on with diligence^H629 and prospereth^H6744 in their hands.^H3028

These are the children^H1121 of the province,^H4082 that went up^H5927 out of the captivity^H7628 of those that had been carried away,^H1473 whom Nebuchadnezzar^H5019 the king^H4428 of Babylon^H894 had carried away,^H1540 and that returned^H7725 unto Jerusalem^H3389 and to Judah,^H3063 every one^H376 unto his city;^H5892

Now it came to pass in the days^H3117 of Ahasuerus^H325 (this is Ahasuerus^H325 who reigned^H4427 from India^H1912 even unto Ethiopia,^H3568 over a hundred^H3967 and seven^H7651 and twenty^H6242 provinces),^H4082

And it came to pass when Jerusalem was taken, (in the ninth^H8671 year^H8141 of Zedekiah^H6667 king^H4428 of Judah,^H3063 in the tenth^H6224 month,^H2320 came^H935 Nebuchadrezzar^H5019 king^H4428 of Babylon^H894 and all his army^H2428 against Jerusalem,^H3389 and besieged^H6696 it;

Zedekiah^H6667 was one^H259 and twenty^H6242 years^H8141 old^H1121 when he began to reign;^H4427 and he reigned^H4427 eleven^H259 years^H8141 in Jerusalem:^H3389 and his mother's^H517 name^H8034 was Hamutal^H2537 the daughter^H1323 of Jeremiah^H3414 of Libnah.^H3841

Her adversaries^H6862 are become the head,^H7218 her enemies^H341 prosper;^H7951 For Jehovah^H3068 hath afflicted^H3013 her for the multitude^H7230 of her transgressions:^H6588 Her young children^H5768 are gone^H1980 into captivity^H7628 before^H6440 the adversary.^H6862

And the coast^H2256 shall be for the remnant^H7611 of the house^H1004 of Judah;^H3063 they shall feed^H7462 [their flocks] thereupon; in the houses^H1004 of Ashkelon^H831 shall they lie down^H7257 in the evening;^H6153 for Jehovah^H3068 their God^H430 will visit^H6485 them, and bring back^H7725 their captivity.^H7622
