T hus saithH559 Jehovah:H3068 Behold, I will raise upH5782 against Babylon,H894 and against them that dwellH3427 in Leb -H3820 kamai,H6965 a destroyingH7843 wind.H7307

And I will sendH7971 unto BabylonH894 strangers,H2114 that shall winnowH2219 her; and they shall emptyH1238 her land:H776 for in the dayH3117 of troubleH7451 they shall be against her round about.H5439

Against [him that] bendethH1869 let the archerH1869 bendH1869 his bow,H7198 and against [him that] lifteth himself upH5927 in his coatH5630 of mail: and spareH2550 ye not her young men;H970 destroy ye utterlyH2763 all her host.H6635

And they shall fallH5307 down slainH2491 in the landH776 of the Chaldeans,H3778 and thrust throughH1856 in her streets.H2351

For IsraelH3478 is not forsaken,H488 nor Judah,H3063 of his God,H430 of JehovahH3068 of hosts;H6635 though their landH776 is fullH4390 of guiltH817 against the Holy OneH6918 of Israel.H3478

Flee outH5127 of the midstH8432 of Babylon,H894 and saveH4422 every manH376 his life;H5315 be not cut offH1826 in her iniquity:H5771 for it is the timeH6256 of Jehovah'sH3068 vengeance;H5360 he will renderH7999 unto her a recompense.H1576

BabylonH894 hath been a goldenH2091 cupH3563 in Jehovah'sH3068 hand,H3027 that made all the earthH776 drunken:H7937 the nationsH1471 have drunkH8354 of her wine;H3196 therefore the nationsH1471 are mad.H1984

BabylonH894 is suddenlyH6597 fallenH5307 and destroyed:H7665 wailH3213 for her; takeH3947 balmH6875 for her pain,H4341 if so be she may be healed.H7495

We would have healedH7495 Babylon,H894 but she is not healed:H7495 forsakeH5800 her, and let us goH3212 every oneH376 into his own country;H776 for her judgmentH4941 reachethH5060 unto heaven,H8064 and is lifted upH5375 even to the skies.H7834

JehovahH3068 hath brought forthH3318 our righteousness:H6666 come,H935 and let us declareH5608 in ZionH6726 the workH4639 of JehovahH3068 our God.H430

Make sharpH1305 the arrows;H2671 hold firmH4390 the shields:H7982 JehovahH3068 hath stirred upH5782 the spiritH7307 of the kingsH4428 of the Medes;H4074 because his purposeH4209 is against Babylon,H894 to destroyH7843 it: for it is the vengeanceH5360 of Jehovah,H3068 the vengeanceH5360 of his temple.H1964

Set upH5375 a standardH5251 against the wallsH2346 of Babylon,H894 make the watchH4929 strong,H2388 setH3559 the watchmen,H8104 prepareH3559 the ambushes;H693 for JehovahH3068 hath both purposedH2161 and doneH6213 that which he spakeH1696 concerning the inhabitantsH3427 of Babylon.H894

O thou that dwellestH7931 upon manyH7227 waters,H4325 abundantH7227 in treasures,H214 thine endH7093 is come,H935 the measureH520 of thy covetousness.H1215

JehovahH3068 of hostsH6635 hath swornH7650 by himself,H5315 [saying], Surely I will fillH4390 thee with men,H120 as with the canker-worm;H3218 and they shall lift upH6030 a shoutH1959 against thee.

He hath madeH6213 the earthH776 by his power,H3581 he hath establishedH3559 the worldH8398 by his wisdom,H2451 and by his understandingH8394 hath he stretched outH5186 the heavens:H8064

when he utterethH5414 his voice,H6963 there is a tumultH1995 of watersH4325 in the heavens,H8064 and he causeth the vaporsH5387 to ascendH5927 from the endsH7097 of the earth;H776 he makethH6213 lightningsH1300 for the rain,H4306 and bringeth forthH3318 the windH7307 out of his treasuries.H214

Every manH120 is become brutishH1197 [and is] without knowledge;H1847 every goldsmithH6884 is put to shameH3001 by his image;H6459 for his molten imageH5262 is falsehood,H8267 and there is no breathH7307 in them.

They are vanity,H1892 a workH4639 of delusion:H8595 in the timeH6256 of their visitationH6486 they shall perish.H6

The portionH2506 of JacobH3290 is not like these; for he is the formerH3335 of all things; and [Israel] is the tribeH7626 of his inheritance:H5159 JehovahH3068 of hostsH6635 is his name.H8034

Thou art my battle-axeH4661 and weaponsH3627 of war:H4421 and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 the nations;H1471 and with thee will I destroyH7843 kingdoms;H4467

and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 the horseH5483 and his rider;H7392

and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 the chariotH7393 and him that ridethH7392 therein; and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 manH376 and woman;H802 and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 the oldH2205 man and the youth;H5288 and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 the young manH970 and the virgin;H1330

and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 the shepherdH7462 and his flock;H5739 and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 the husbandmanH406 and his yoke [of oxen];H6776 and with thee will I break in piecesH5310 governorsH6346 and deputies.H5461

And I will renderH7999 unto BabylonH894 and to all the inhabitantsH3427 of ChaldeaH3778 all their evilH7451 that they have doneH6213 in ZionH6726 in your sight,H5869 saithH5002 Jehovah.H3068

Behold, I am against thee, O destroyingH4889 mountain,H2022 saithH5002 Jehovah,H3068 which destroyestH7843 all the earth;H776 and I will stretch outH5186 my handH3027 upon thee, and roll thee downH1556 from the rocks,H5553 and will makeH5414 thee a burntH8316 mountain.H2022

And they shall not takeH3947 of thee a stoneH68 for a corner,H6438 nor a stoneH68 for foundations;H4146 but thou shalt be desolateH8077 for ever,H5769 saithH5002 Jehovah.H3068

Set ye upH5375 a standardH5251 in the land,H776 blowH8628 the trumpetH7782 among the nations,H1471 prepareH6942 the nationsH1471 against her, call togetherH8085 against her the kingdomsH4467 of Ararat,H780 Minni,H4508 and Ashkenaz:H813 appointH6485 a marshalH2951 against her; cause the horsesH5483 to come upH5927 as the roughH5569 canker-worm.H3218

PrepareH6942 against her the nations,H1471 the kingsH4428 of the Medes,H4074 the governorsH6346 thereof, and all the deputiesH5461 thereof, and all the landH776 of their dominion.H4475

And the landH776 tremblethH7493 and is in pain;H2342 for the purposesH4284 of JehovahH3068 against BabylonH894 do stand,H6965 to makeH7760 the landH776 of BabylonH894 a desolation,H8047 without inhabitant.H3427

The mighty menH1368 of BabylonH894 have forborneH2308 to fight,H3898 they remainH3427 in their strongholds;H4679 their mightH1369 hath failed;H5405 they are become as women:H802 her dwelling-placesH4908 are set on fire;H3341 her barsH1280 are broken.H7665

One postH7323 shall runH7323 to meetH7125 another,H7323 and one messengerH5046 to meetH7125 another,H5046 to showH5046 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 that his cityH5892 is takenH3920 on every quarter:H7097

and the passagesH4569 are seized,H8610 and the reedsH98 they have burnedH8313 with fire,H784 and the menH582 of warH4421 are affrighted.H926

For thus saithH559 JehovahH3068 of hosts,H6635 the GodH430 of Israel:H3478 The daughterH1323 of BabylonH894 is like a threshing-floorH1637 at the timeH6256 whenH6256 it is trodden; yet a little while,H4592 and the timeH6256 of harvestH7105 shall comeH935 for her.

NebuchadrezzarH5019 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 hath devouredH398 me, he hath crushedH2000 me, he hath madeH3322 me an emptyH7385 vessel,H3627 he hath, like a monster,H8577 swallowed me up,H1104 he hath filledH4390 his mawH3770 with my delicacies;H5730 he hath cast me out.H1740

The violenceH2555 done to me and to my fleshH7607 be upon Babylon,H894 shall the inhabitantH3427 of ZionH6726 say;H559 and, My bloodH1818 be upon the inhabitantsH3427 of Chaldea,H3778 shall JerusalemH3389 say.H559

Therefore thus saithH559 Jehovah:H3068 Behold, I will pleadH7378 thy cause,H7379 and take vengeanceH5358 for thee;H5360 and I will dry upH2717 her sea,H3220 and make her fountainH4726 dry.H3001

And BabylonH894 shall become heaps,H1530 a dwelling-placeH4583 for jackals,H8577 an astonishment,H8047 and a hissing,H8322 without inhabitant.H3427

They shall roarH7580 togetherH3162 like young lions;H3715 they shall growlH5286 as lions'H738 whelps.H1484

When they are heated,H2527 I will makeH7896 their feast,H4960 and I will make them drunken,H7937 that they may rejoice,H5937 and sleepH3462 a perpetualH5769 sleep,H8142 and not wake,H6974 saithH5002 Jehovah.H3068

I will bring them downH3381 like lambsH3733 to the slaughter,H2873 like ramsH352 with he-goats.H6260

How is SheshachH8347 taken!H3920 and the praiseH8416 of the whole earthH776 seized!H8610 how is BabylonH894 become a desolationH8047 among the nations!H1471

The seaH3220 is come upH5927 upon Babylon;H894 she is coveredH3680 with the multitudeH1995 of the wavesH1530 thereof.

Her citiesH5892 are become a desolation,H8047 a dryH6723 land,H776 and a desert,H6160 a landH776 wherein no manH376 dwelleth,H3427 neither doth any sonH1121 of manH120 passH5674 thereby.H2004

And I will execute judgmentH6485 upon BelH1078 in Babylon,H894 and I will bring forthH3318 outH3318 of his mouthH6310 that which he hath swallowed up;H1105 and the nationsH1471 shall not flow any more unto him: yea, the wallH2346 of BabylonH894 shall fall.H5307

My people,H5971 go ye outH3318 of the midstH8432 of her, and saveH4422 yourselvesH5315 every manH376 from the fierceH2740 angerH639 of Jehovah.H3068

And let not your heartH3824 faint,H7401 neither fearH3372 ye for the tidingsH8052 that shall be heardH8085 in the land;H776 for tidingsH8052 shall comeH935 one year,H8141 and afterH310 that in another yearH8141 shall come tidings,H8052 and violenceH2555 in the land,H776 rulerH4910 against ruler.H4910

Therefore, behold, the daysH3117 come,H935 that I will execute judgmentH6485 upon the graven imagesH6456 of Babylon;H894 and her whole landH776 shall be confounded;H954 and all her slainH2491 shall fallH5307 in the midstH8432 of her.

Then the heavensH8064 and the earth,H776 and all that is therein, shall singH7442 for joy over Babylon;H894 for the destroyersH7703 shall comeH935 unto her from the north,H6828 saithH5002 Jehovah.H3068

AsH1571 BabylonH894 hath caused the slainH2491 of IsraelH3478 to fall,H5307 so at BabylonH894 shall fallH5307 the slainH2491 of all the land.H776

Ye that have escapedH6405 the sword,H2719 goH1980 ye, stand not still;H5975 rememberH2142 JehovahH3068 from afar,H7350 and let JerusalemH3389 comeH5927 into your mind.H3824

We are confounded,H954 because we have heardH8085 reproach;H2781 confusionH3639 hath coveredH3680 our faces:H6440 for strangersH2114 are comeH935 into the sanctuariesH4720 of Jehovah'sH3068 house.H1004

Wherefore, behold, the daysH3117 come,H935 saithH5002 Jehovah,H3068 that I will execute judgmentH6485 upon her graven images;H6456 and through all her landH776 the woundedH2491 shall groan.H602

Though BabylonH894 should mount upH5927 to heaven,H8064 and though she should fortifyH1219 the heightH4791 of her strength,H5797 yetH227 from me shall destroyersH7703 comeH935 unto her, saithH5002 Jehovah.H3068

The soundH6963 of a cryH2201 from Babylon,H894 and of greatH1419 destructionH7667 from the landH776 of the Chaldeans!H3778

For JehovahH3068 layeth BabylonH894 waste,H7703 and destroyethH6 out of her the greatH1419 voice;H6963 and their wavesH1530 roarH1993 like manyH7227 waters;H4325 the noiseH7588 of their voiceH6963 is uttered:H5414

for the destroyerH7703 is comeH935 upon her, even upon Babylon,H894 and her mighty menH1368 are taken,H3920 their bowsH7198 are brokenH2865 in pieces; for JehovahH3068 is a GodH410 of recompenses,H1578 he will surelyH7999 requite.H7999

And I will make drunkH7937 her princesH8269 and her wiseH2450 men, her governorsH6346 and her deputies,H5461 and her mighty men;H1368 and they shall sleepH3462 a perpetualH5769 sleep,H8142 and not wake,H6974 saithH5002 the King,H4428 whose nameH8034 is JehovahH3068 of hosts.H6635

Thus saithH559 JehovahH3068 of hosts:H6635 The broadH7342 wallsH2346 of BabylonH894 shall be utterlyH6209 overthrown,H6209 and her highH1364 gatesH8179 shall be burnedH3341 with fire;H784 and the peoplesH5971 shall laborH3021 for vanity,H7385 and the nationsH3816 forH1767 the fire;H784 and they shall be weary.H3286

The wordH1697 which JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030 commandedH6680 SeraiahH8304 the sonH1121 of Neriah,H5374 the sonH1121 of Mahseiah,H4271 when he wentH3212 with ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 to BabylonH894 in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of his reign.H4427 Now SeraiahH8304 was chiefH4496 chamberlain.H8269

And JeremiahH3414 wroteH3789 in aH259 bookH5612 all the evilH7451 that should comeH935 upon Babylon,H894 even all these wordsH1697 that are writtenH3789 concerning Babylon.H894

And JeremiahH3414 saidH559 to Seraiah,H8304 When thou comestH935 to Babylon,H894 then seeH7200 that thou readH7121 all these words,H1697

and say,H559 O Jehovah,H3068 thou hast spokenH1696 concerning this place,H4725 to cut it off,H3772 that none shall dwellH3427 therein, neither manH120 nor beast,H929 but that it shall be desolateH8077 for ever.H5769

And it shall be, when thou hast made an endH3615 of readingH7121 this book,H5612 that thou shalt bindH7194 a stoneH68 to it, and castH7993 it into the midstH8432 of the Euphrates:H6578

and thou shalt say,H559 Thus shall BabylonH894 sink,H8257 and shall not riseH6965 again becauseH6440 of the evilH7451 that I will bringH935 upon her; and they shall be weary.H3286 Thus far are the wordsH1697 of Jeremiah.H3414
