ASVs · الأصحاح 31
I madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with mine eyes;H5869 How then should I lookH995 upon a virgin?H1330
For what is the portionH2506 from GodH433 above,H4605 And the heritageH5159 from the AlmightyH7706 on high?H4791
Is it not calamityH343 to the unrighteous,H5767 And disasterH5235 to the workersH6466 of iniquity?H205
Doth not he seeH7200 my ways,H1870 And numberH5608 all my steps?H6806
If I have walkedH1980 with falsehood,H7723 And my footH7272 hath hastedH2363 to deceitH4820
(Let me be weighedH8254 in an evenH6664 balance,H3976 That GodH433 may knowH3045 mine integrity);H8538
If my stepH838 hath turned outH5186 of the way,H1870 And my heartH3820 walkedH1980 afterH310 mine eyes,H5869 And if any spotH3971 hath cleavedH1692 to my hands:H3709
Then let me sow,H2232 and let anotherH312 eat;H398 Yea, let the produceH6631 of my field be rooted out.H8327
If my heartH3820 hath been enticedH6601 unto a woman,H802 And I have laid waitH693 at my neighbor'sH7453 door;H6607
Then let my wifeH802 grindH2912 unto another,H312 And let othersH312 bow downH3766 upon her.
For that were a heinous crime;H2154 Yea, it were an iniquityH5771 to be punished by the judges:H6414
For it is a fireH784 that consumethH398 unto Destruction,H11 And would root outH8327 all mine increase.H8393
If I have despisedH3988 the causeH4941 of my man-servantH5650 or of my maid-servant,H519 When they contendedH7379 with me;
What then shall I doH6213 when GodH410 riseth up?H6965 And when he visiteth,H6485 what shall I answerH7725 him?
Did not he that madeH6213 me in the wombH990 makeH6213 him? And did not oneH259 fashionH3559 us in the womb?H7358
If I have withheldH4513 the poorH1800 from [their] desire,H2656 Or have caused the eyesH5869 of the widowH490 to fail,H3615
Or have eatenH398 my morselH6595 alone, And the fatherlessH3490 hath not eatenH398 thereof
(Nay, from my youthH5271 he grew upH1431 with me as with a father,H1 And her have I guidedH5148 from my mother'sH517 womb);H990
If I have seenH7200 any perishH6 for want of clothing,H3830 Or that the needyH34 had no covering;H3682
If his loinsH2504 have not blessedH1288 me, And if he hath not been warmedH2552 with the fleeceH1488 of my sheep;H3532
If I have lifted upH5130 my handH3027 against the fatherless,H3490 Because I sawH7200 my helpH5833 in the gate:H8179
Then let my shoulder fallH5307 from the shoulder-blade,H7929 And mine armH248 be brokenH7665 from the bone.H7070
For calamityH343 from GodH410 is a terrorH6343 to me, And by reason of his majestyH7613 I canH3201 do nothing.
If I have madeH7760 goldH2091 my hope,H3689 And have saidH559 to the fine gold,H3800 [Thou art] my confidence;H4009
If I have rejoicedH8055 because my wealthH2428 was great,H7227 And because my handH3027 had gottenH4672 much;H3524
If I have beheldH7200 the sunH216 when it shined,H1984 Or the moonH3394 walkingH1980 in brightness,H3368
And my heartH3820 hath been secretlyH5643 enticed,H6601 And my mouthH6310 hath kissedH5401 my hand:H3027
This also were an iniquityH5771 to be punished by the judges;H6416 For I should have deniedH3584 the GodH410 that is above.H4605
If I have rejoicedH8055 at the destructionH6365 of him that hatedH8130 me, Or lifted upH5782 myself when evilH7451 foundH4672 him;
(Yea, I have not sufferedH5414 my mouthH2441 to sinH2398 By askingH7592 his lifeH5315 with a curse);H423
If the menH4962 of my tentH168 have not said,H559 Who can findH5414 one that hath not been filledH7646 with his meat?H1320
(The sojournerH1616 hath not lodgedH3885 in the street;H2351 But I have openedH6605 my doorsH1817 to the traveller);H734
If like AdamH121 I have coveredH3680 my transgressions,H6588 By hidingH2934 mine iniquityH5771 in my bosom,H2243
Because I fearedH6206 the greatH7227 multitude,H1995 And the contemptH937 of familiesH4940 terrifiedH2865 me, So that I kept silence,H1826 and went not outH3318 of the door—H6607
Oh thatH5414 I had one to hearH8085 me! (Lo, here is my signature,H8420 let the AlmightyH7706 answerH6030 me); And [that I had] the indictmentH5612 which mine adversaryH376 hath written!H3789
Surely I would carryH5375 it upon my shoulder;H7926 I would bindH6029 it unto me as a crown:H5850
I would declareH5046 unto him the numberH4557 of my steps;H6806 As a princeH5057 would I go nearH7126 unto him.
If my landH127 criethH2199 out against me, AndH3162 the furrowsH8525 thereof weepH1058 together;
If I have eatenH398 the fruitsH3581 thereof without money,H3701 Or have caused the ownersH1167 thereof to loseH5301 their life:H5315
Let thistlesH2336 growH3318 instead of wheat,H2406 And cockleH890 instead of barley.H8184 The wordsH1697 of JobH347 are ended.H8552
