H owbeit,H199 Job,H347 I pray thee, hearH8085 my speech,H4405 And hearkenH238 to all my words.H1697
Behold now, I have openedH6605 my mouth;H6310 My tongueH3956 hath spokenH1696 in my mouth.H2441
My wordsH561 [shall utter] the uprightnessH3476 of my heart;H3820 And that which my lipsH8193 knowH1847 they shall speakH4448 sincerely.H1305
The SpiritH7307 of GodH410 hath madeH6213 me, And the breathH5397 of the AlmightyH7706 giveth me life.H2421
If thou canst,H3201 answerH7725 thou me; Set [thy words] in orderH6186 beforeH6440 me, stand forth.H3320
Behold, I am toward GodH410 even as thou art:H6310 I also am formedH7169 out of the clay.H2563
Behold, my terrorH367 shall not make thee afraid,H1204 Neither shall my pressureH405 be heavyH3513 upon thee.
Surely thou hast spokenH559 in my hearing,H241 And I have heardH8085 the voiceH6963 of [thy] words,H4405 [saying],
I am clean,H2134 without transgression;H6588 I am innocent,H2643 neither is there iniquityH5771 in me:
Behold, he findethH4672 occasionsH8569 against me, He countethH2803 me for his enemy:H341
He puttethH7760 my feetH7272 in the stocks,H5465 He markethH8104 all my paths.H734
Behold, I will answerH6030 thee, in this thou art not just;H6663 For GodH433 is greaterH7235 than man.H582
Why dost thou striveH7378 against him, For that he giveth not accountH6030 of any of his matters?H1697
For GodH410 speakethH1696 once,H259 Yea twice,H8147 [though man] regardethH7789 it not.
In a dream,H2472 in a visionH2384 of the night,H3915 When deepH8639 sleep fallethH5307 upon men,H582 In slumberingsH8572 upon the bed;H4904
Then he openethH1540 the earsH241 of men,H582 And sealethH2856 their instruction,H4561
That he may withdrawH5493 manH120 [from his] purpose,H4639 And hideH3680 prideH1466 from man;H1397
He keepeth backH2820 his soulH5315 from the pit,H7845 And his lifeH2416 from perishingH5674 by the sword.H7973
He is chastenedH3198 also with painH4341 upon his bed,H4904 And with continualH7230 strifeH386 in his bones;H6106
So that his lifeH2416 abhorrethH2092 bread,H3899 And his soulH5315 daintyH8378 food.H3978
His fleshH1320 is consumed away,H3615 that it cannot be seen;H7210 And his bonesH6106 that were not seenH7200 stick out.H8192
Yea, his soulH5315 draweth nearH7126 unto the pit,H7845 And his lifeH2416 to the destroyers.H4191
If thereH3426 be with him an angel,H4397 An interpreter,H3887 oneH259 among a thousand,H505 To showH5046 unto manH120 what is rightH3476 for him;
Then [God] is graciousH2603 unto him, and saith,H559 DeliverH6308 him from going downH3381 to the pit,H7845 I have foundH4672 a ransom.H3724
His fleshH1320 shall be fresherH7375 than a child's;H5290 He returnethH7725 to the daysH3117 of his youth.H5934
He prayethH6279 unto God,H433 and he is favorableH7521 unto him, So that he seethH7200 his faceH6440 with joy:H8643 And he restorethH7725 unto manH582 his righteousness.H6666
He singethH7789 before men,H582 and saith,H559 I have sinned,H2398 and pervertedH5753 that which was right,H3477 And it profitedH7737 me not:
He hath redeemedH6299 my soulH5315 from goingH5674 into the pit,H7845 And my lifeH2416 shall beholdH7200 the light.H216
Lo, all these things doth GodH410 work,H6466 Twice, [yea] thrice,H6471 with a man,H1397
To bring backH7725 his soulH5315 from the pit,H7845 That he may be enlightenedH215 with the lightH216 of the living.H2416
Mark well,H7181 O Job,H347 hearkenH8085 unto me: Hold thy peace,H2790 and I will speak.H1696
If thou hastH3426 anything to say,H4405 answerH7725 me: Speak,H4405 for I desireH2654 to justifyH6663 thee.
If not, hearkenH8085 thou unto me: Hold thy peace,H2790 and I will teachH502 thee wisdom.H2451
