Then the Princes of the Philistims gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice vnto Dagon their god, and to reioyce: for they said, Our god hath deliuered Samson our enemie into our handes.
Then Dauid spake to the men that stoode with him, and sayde, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistim, and taketh away the shame from Israel? for who is this vncircumcised Philistim, that he shoulde reuile the hoste of the liuing God?
Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, & tary at home. Why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, & Iudah with thee?
Doeth not he beholde my wayes and tell all my steps?
But if thou hide thy face, they are troubled: if thou take away their breath, they dye and returne to their dust.
The heauens, euen the heauens are the Lordes: but he hath giuen the earth to the sonnes of men.
Thou compassest my pathes, and my lying downe, and art accustomed to all my wayes.
The steps of man are ruled by the Lord: how can a man then vnderstand his owne way?
Now will I arise, saith the Lord: now will I be exalted, now will I lift vp my selfe.
Whome hast thou railed on and blasphemed? and against whome hast thou exalted thy voyce, & lifted vp thine eyes on hie? euen against the holy one of Israel.
They draw gold out of the bagge & weigh siluer in the balance, and hire a goldsmith to make a god of it, and they bowe downe, and worship it.
The voyce of them that flee, and escape out of the lande of Babel to declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lorde our God, and the vengeance of his Temple.
Sonne of ma, say vnto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saieth the Lord God, Because thine heart is exalted, & thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God in ye mids of the sea, yet thou art but a man & not God, and though thou didest thinke in thine heart, that thou wast equall with God,
Thine heart was lifted vp because of thy beautie, and thou hast corrupted thy wisedome by reason of thy brightnes: I wil cast thee to ye grounde: I will lay thee before Kinges that they may beholde thee.
(4:34) Now therefore I Nebuchad-nezzar prayse and extoll & magnifie the King of heauen, whose workes are all trueth, & his wayes iudgement, and those that walke in pride, he is able to abase.
And extolled himselfe against the prince of the hoste from whome the dayly sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his Sanctuarie was cast downe.
Beholde, he that lifteth vp himselfe, his minde is not vpright in him, but the iust shal liue by his fayth,
Neither is worshipped with mens handes, as though he needed any thing, seeing hee giueth to all life and breath and all things,
Because that when they knewe God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankefull, but became vaine in their thoughtes, and their foolish heart was full of darkenesse.
He may not be a yong scholer, lest he being puffed vp fall into the condemnation of the deuill.
And there was giuen vnto him a mouth, that spake great things and blasphemies, and power was giuen vnto him, to doe two and fourtie moneths.
