If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

¶ And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.

He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

¶ There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and [there is] that withholdeth more than is meet, but [it tendeth] to poverty.

He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also [there is that] neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:)

¶ Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD'S house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

‹And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.›

‹So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.›

‹But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.›

Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, ‹Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.›

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with [his] hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
