Joshua Challenges Israel to be Faithful A long time passed after the LORD made Israel secure from all their enemies, and Joshua was very old.

But now the LORD my God has made me secure on all fronts; there is no adversary or dangerous threat.

He summoned his son Solomon and charged him to build a temple for the LORD God of Israel.

King David rose to his feet and said:“Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the LORD’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. I have made the preparations for building it.

Jehoshaphat’s kingdom enjoyed peace; his God made him secure on every side.

until I find a place for the LORD, a fine dwelling place for the Powerful One of Jacob.”

After twelve months, he happened to be walking around on the battlements of the royal palace of Babylon.

that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, may serve him without fear,
