Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who were going to marry his daughters. He said,“Quick, get out of this place because the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was ridiculing them.

But he refused, saying to his master’s wife,“Look, my master does not give any thought to his household with me here, and everything that he owns he has put into my care.

Joseph said to them,“What did you think you were doing? Don’t you know that a man like me can find out things like this by divination?”

and they said to Moses,“Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What in the world have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

“You shall have no other gods before me.

Moses went into the cloud when he went up the mountain, and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God and said,“O LORD, why does your anger burn against your people, whom you have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

They said to me,‘Make us gods that will go before us, for as for this fellow Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him.’

And the LORD said,“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have been alert and would not have let his house be broken into.

And you see and hear that this Paul has persuaded and turned away a large crowd, not only in Ephesus but in practically all of the province of Asia, by saying that gods made by hands are not gods at all.
