“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”

Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in a time of testing fall away.

Jesus at the Passover Feast Now while Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.

The Samaritans Respond Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the report of the woman who testified,“He told me everything I ever did.”

Now when the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus performed, they began to say to one another,“This is certainly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

Then some of the Pharisees began to say,“This man is not from God, because he does not observe the Sabbath.” But others said,“How can a man who is a sinner perform such miraculous signs?” Thus there was a division among them.

The Response of the Jewish Leaders Then many of the people, who had come with Mary and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in him.

Nevertheless, even among the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they would not confess Jesus to be the Christ, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue.

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
