You will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful follower to see the Pit.

They open their mouths to devour me like a roaring lion that rips its prey.

He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.

But he answered them,“An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,

Then the high priest tore his clothes and said,“Why do we still need witnesses?

They put a purple cloak on him and after braiding a crown of thorns, they put it on him.

Now the men who were holding Jesus under guard began to mock him and beat him.

The people also stood there watching, but the leaders ridiculed him, saying,“He saved others. Let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”

and said to him,“Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the cheaper wine when the guests are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”

and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures,
