Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, "Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: "Thus says your brother Israel: You know all the travail that has happened to us:

Because for your sake, I have borne reproach. Shame has covered my face.

You have shortened the days of his youth. You have covered him with shame. Selah.

I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will be resplendent." A Song of Ascents. By David.

Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker. He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.

Thus says Yahweh against all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.

Edom shall become an astonishment: everyone who passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues.

Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Edom, that dwell in the land of Uz: The cup shall pass through to you also; you shall be drunken, and shall make yourself naked.

They shall also clothe themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be on all faces, and baldness on all their heads.

Because you have had a perpetual enmity, and have given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end;

You shall know that I, Yahweh, have heard all your insults which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they have been given us to devour.

Amos 1:11 TSK

Thus says Yahweh: "For three transgressions of Edom, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity, and his anger raged continually, and he kept his wrath forever;

but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness."
