¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness [which] may be felt.

And in those times [there was] no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations [were] upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

¶ The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.

I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, [and] make [it] gross darkness.

Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

¶ The great day of the LORD [is] near, [it is] near, and hasteth greatly, [even] the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

‹Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast› [him] ‹into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.›

‹And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;›
