So the LORD said,“I will wipe humankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth– everything from humankind to animals, including creatures that move on the ground and birds of the air, for I regret that I have made them.”

For in seven days I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the ground every living thing that I have made.”

The flood engulfed the earth for forty days. As the waters increased, they lifted the ark and raised it above the earth.

So the LORD destroyed every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, including people, animals, creatures that creep along the ground, and birds of the sky. They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark survived.

And as for me, I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will come after them, that I may be honored because of Pharaoh and his army and his chariots and his horsemen.

The Vindication of the Lord“See now that I, indeed I, am he!” says the LORD,“and there is no other god besides me. I kill and give life, I smash and I heal, and none can resist my power.

The LORD sits enthroned over the engulfing waters, the LORD sits enthroned as the eternal king.

and a fruitful land into a barren place, because of the sin of its inhabitants.

“As far as I am concerned, this is like in Noah’s time, when I vowed that the waters of Noah’s flood would never again cover the earth. In the same way I have vowed that I will not be angry at you or shout at you.

Say,‘Mountains of Israel, Hear the word of the Sovereign LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and the valleys: I am bringing a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.

“‘Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says to them: Look, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.

Amos 9:6 TSK

He builds the upper rooms of his palace in heaven and sets its foundation supports on the earth. He summons the water of the sea and pours it out on the earth’s surface. The LORD is his name.

People were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage– right up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

For the creation was subjected to futility– not willingly but because of God who subjected it– in hope

after they were disobedient long ago when God patiently waited in the days of Noah as an ark was being constructed. In the ark a few, that is eight souls, were delivered through water.
