You are a lion’s cub, Judah, from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He crouches and lies down like a lion; like a lioness– who will rouse him?

The Demand for a Sign Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for a sign from heaven to test him.

But he saw through their hypocrisy and said to them,“Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.”

Others, to test him, began asking for a sign from heaven.

Paying Taxes to Caesar Then they watched him carefully and sent spies who pretended to be sincere. They wanted to take advantage of what he might say so that they could deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor.

And let us not put Christ to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by snakes.
