¶ They also that seek after my life lay snares [for me]: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
¶ To the chief Musician, [even] to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it [is] an evil time.
But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
¶ The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
Then one of them, [which was] a lawyer, asked [him a question], tempting him, and saying,
And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, ‹Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see› [it].
And others, tempting [him], sought of him a sign from heaven.
¶ And they watched [him], and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
