So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining,“Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”

He added,“I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back, but my face must not be seen.”

Manoah said to his wife,“We will certainly die, because we have seen a supernatural being!”

Now, O LORD God of Israel, may the promise you made to your servant David be realized.

Isaiah’s Commission In the year of King Uzziah’s death, I saw the Lord seated on a high, elevated throne. The hem of his robe filled the temple.

God’s Glory Leaves the Temple As I watched, I saw on the platform above the top of the cherubim something like a sapphire, resembling the shape of a throne, appearing above them.

No one has ever seen God. The only one, himself God, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known.

Jesus replied,“Have I been with you for so long, and you have not known me, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say,‘Show us the Father’?

No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God resides in us, and his love is perfected in us.

And the one seated on it was like jasper and carnelian in appearance, and a rainbow looking like it was made of emerald encircled the throne.

The city’s wall is made of jasper and the city is pure gold, like transparent glass.
