Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.

“Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all humankind, appoint a man over the community,

for while my spirit is still in me, and the breath from God is in my nostrils,

Look, I am just like you in relation to God; I too have been molded from clay.

For he knows what we are made of; he realizes we are made of clay.

The human spirit is like the lamp of the LORD, searching all his innermost parts.

Both go to the same place, both come from the dust, and to dust both return.

Stop trusting in human beings, whose life’s breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration?

This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: Look, I am about to infuse breath into you and you will live.

The Repentance of Judah This is an oracle, the LORD’s message concerning Israel: The LORD– he who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundations of the earth, who forms the human spirit within a person– says,

nor is he served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives life and breath and everything to everyone.

So also it is written,“The first man, Adam, became a living person”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

An Eternal Weight of Glory But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that the extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.

Besides, we have experienced discipline from our earthly fathers and we respected them; shall we not submit ourselves all the more to the Father of spirits and receive life?
