Now the earth was without shape and empty, and darkness was over the surface of the watery deep, but the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water.

Joseph replied to Pharaoh,“It is not within my power, but God will speak concerning the welfare of Pharaoh.”

The LORD said to him,“Who gave a mouth to man, or who makes a person mute or deaf or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?

So Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person in whom the LORD has put skill and ability to know how to do all the work for the service of the sanctuary are to do the work according to all that the LORD has commanded.”

And the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to them, and he took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but did not do so again.

When you look up to the sky and see the sun, moon, and stars– the whole heavenly creation– you must not be seduced to worship and serve them, for the LORD your God has assigned them to all the people of the world.

Only may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he places you in charge of Israel, so you may obey the law of the LORD your God.

God said to Solomon,“Because you desire this, and did not ask for riches, wealth, and honor, or for vengeance on your enemies, and because you did not ask for long life, but requested wisdom and discernment so you can make judicial decisions for my people over whom I have made you king,

For the LORD God is our sovereign protector. The LORD bestows favor and honor; he withholds no good thing from those who have integrity.

For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

I am the one who forms light and creates darkness; the one who brings about peace and creates calamity. I am the LORD, who accomplishes all these things.

The sun will no longer supply light for you by day, nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you; the LORD will be your permanent source of light– the splendor of your God will shine upon you.

Daniel replied to the king,“The mystery that the king is asking about is such that no wise men, astrologers, magicians, or diviners can possibly disclose it to the king.

If you then, although you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

He replied,“You have been given the opportunity to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but they have not.

The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

Jesus as the Light of the World Then Jesus spoke out again,“I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

When they heard this, they ceased their objections and praised God, saying,“So then, God has granted the repentance that leads to life even to the Gentiles.”

For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?

For God, who said“Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

among whom all of us also formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest…

Therefore it says,“When he ascended on high he captured captives; he gave gifts to men.”

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to various passions and desires, spending our lives in evil and envy, hateful and hating one another.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!

Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.

God Is Light, So We Must Walk in the Light Now this is the gospel message we have heard from him and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Night will be no more, and they will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.
