Now during the blessing he departed and was taken up into heaven.

Washing the Disciples’ Feet Just before the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that his time had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now loved them to the very end.

You heard me say to you,‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.

In a little while you will see me no longer; again after a little while, you will see me.”

I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them safe in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one.

After he had said this, while they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud hid him from their sight.
