Then ceased the worke of the house of God, which was in Ierusalem, & did stay vnto the second yeere of Darius King of Persia.

Now after these things, in the reigne of Artahshashte King of Persia, was Ezra the sonne of Seraiah, the sonne of Azariah, the sonne of Hilkiah,

And this is the copie of the letter that King Artahshashte gaue vnto Ezra the Priest & scribe, euen a writer of the words of the commadements of ye Lord, & of his statutes ouer Israel.

And sayde vnto the King, If it please the King, and if thy seruant haue found fauour in thy sight, I desire that thou wouldest send me to Iudah vnto the city of the sepulchres of my fathers, that I may buyld it.

Then arose Eliashib the hie Priest with his brethren the Priestes, and they buylt the sheepegate: they repayred it, and set vp the doores thereof: euen vnto the tower of Meah repayred they it, and vnto the tower of Hananeel.

And conspired all together to come & to fight against Ierusalem, and to hinder them.

Notwithstanding the wall was finished on the fiue and twentieth day of Elul, in two and fiftie dayes.

A time to slay, and a time to heale: a time to breake downe, and a time to builde.

Beholde, I gaue him for a witnes to the people, for a prince and a master vnto the people.

And through his policie also, hee shall cause craft to prosper in his hand, and he shall extoll himselfe in his heart, and by peace shal destroy many: hee shall also stande vp against the prince of princes, but he shalbe broken downe without hand.

Nowe assemble thy garisons, O daughter of garisons: he hath layed siege against vs: they shall smite the iudge of Israel with a rod vpon the cheeke.

But he that receiued the seede in the good ground, is he that heareth the worde, and vnderstandeth it, which also beareth fruite, and bringeth foorth, some an hundreth folde, some sixtie folde, and some thirtie folde.

Moreouer, when ye shall see the abomination of desolation (spoken of by Daniel the Prophet) set where it ought not, (let him that readeth, consider it) then let them that be in Iudea, flee into the mountaines,

The woman said vnto him, I knowe well that Messias shall come which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell vs all things.

Him hath God lift vp with his right hand, to be a Prince and a Sauiour, to giue repentance to Israel, and forgiuenes of sinnes.

Redeeming ye season: for ye daies are euill.

And he hath vpon his garment, and vpon his thigh a name written, The King of Kings, and Lord of Lordes.
