Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
¶ He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
¶ [There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
¶ As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so [is] a man that wandereth from his place.
¶ Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth [his] substance.
Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
‹But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.›
