And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen; for we are brethren.

And the men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house upon thee with fire.

And the battle was very sore that day: and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

and spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I [will chastise you] with scorpions.

Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

By pride cometh only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.

A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.

He loveth transgression that loveth strife: He that raiseth high his gate seeketh destruction.

It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; But every fool will be quarrelling.

[ As] coals are to hot embers, and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to inflame strife.

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof; [and] the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Now in these days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Grecian Jews against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men.

But foolish and ignorant questionings refuse, knowing that they gender strifes.
